Animation means linking the series of drawings and simulating their movements together creating an imaginary world. An animator creates characters and displays them with 2D or 3D images to create an illusion of motion creating characters and making them in an ever-changing sequencing and exciting backdrops. Animation is an emerging art form in which inanimate objects are sketched by hand and with the help of computers and other electronic means emerges into a special form of animation which is a perfect blend of entertainment industry and technology.

As an animator the major part of your career is spend as an artist in producing footage to a job given to animate the scene and to give it life to convince the audience by your work and creates an impact on the minds of the audience and garners gasps of appreciation by making the characters exists as a living, breathing entity. It’s kind of an invisible craft in an imaginary world.
A candidate at the initial level as an animator assists the director and works story, layout, set direction, dealing with the use of light and shade, movements etc. All the elements look believable and are brought to life but it’s completely a simulation in the computer. The lighting is an illusion, based on the rules of how light bounces and reacts with loads of imaginations and technology. In short as an animator you have to create characters that leave an indelible mark on the audience.
As an animator you would be responsible for developing a theme and create a series of drawings based on that idea and be responsible to create a series of drawings, sketched or on the computer and then transfer and turn the whole series with specialized computer aided programs and animate the ideas with the fundamental interest of creating animation which enthralls the audience and gives them something new and surprising.
As an animator we have to do something new and creative to make the character more believable and for that you want to come up with something real and something that’s truthful. The best art you can create as an animator is not predictable. It can at times even surprise you. The spine of the art form can be a familiar story but has to be layered in a way with end number of surprises more than the expectations of the audience.
Educational Qualifications
An aspiring candidate willing to make a mark in this industry as an animator needs to attain a bachelor’s degree program in animation after having passed 12th standard from any recognized institute
Candidate with a postgraduate program should have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and should have a basic knowledge of handling computers. Moreover a candidate who is good at sketching and has a passion for animation is eligible to enter in this field as an animator

· It not being a mechanical subject needs lot of passion and imaginative skills.
· One should have flair for sketching/drawing.
· It needs long hours of continuous work with a whole lot of dedication.
· One should be good at visualizations, choice of colors and acting too so that you are able to put yourself in another character.
Though this profession seems to be quite unglamorous, yet it is very exciting and unless you have the complete dedication and interest in it you should not enter in this field.
