Medical profession is the profession, where there is absolutely no margin of errors as one is dealing with human lives. This simply means that the resume should be written with great care. A doctor’s resume must reflect dedication and professionalism, all on that piece of paper. In order to write a professional medical resume, follow the simple instructions:-
1. Contact Information: This includes your name in full, your campus and permanent address, your telephone numbers and your email address.
2. Job Objective: The medical resume should include a brief headline that brings out your career goal and one or two of your highest qualifications.
3. Summary: This portion includes a summary of your resume. This summary tells the employer of what all you are and have inside you as a talent. For example, “More than eight years diverse leadership experience as a physician with significant achievements in developing care-taking strategies, coaching medical staff on healthcare business and practice issues.”
4. Education: This is the place where you list out all your education starting from your highest degree first. This would also include the name of the institution, city and state where you did that education.
5. Skills: This is an important part of the resume. Remember that the persons coming for the job are more or less on the similar lines of qualification, but it is the skill that is different at all times. Mention all your job related skills to make your resume outstanding. Use action-words, verbs, adverbs, adjectives in your descriptions and terms that are specific to your job. You can also add your computer and language skills.
6. Experience: This is the place where you should describe your experience and all your achievements as a medical practitioner. Now this is very necessary for one to understand that you might have all the experience of the world, but you should present only that experience, for which you have applied. Rest all may be good, but not for this job. Think it like this. In this section you should use action words as to how you cured people. It is the truth you are writing, so make it the truth with the write words. You should also include a sub-section for performed surgeries, if you are a surgeon. For example, performed surgeries like: vascular surgical repair of femoral and radial arteries or partial hip replacement or open reduction and internal fixation of fractures using plate and screws on femoral, humeral, radial and fibular bones.
7. Activities: This section includes campus and community activities, memberships in professional organizations etc.
8. Personal: This is the last section that includes certifications, security clearances, patents, special awards, citizenship etc.
