Generally, by the term infrastructure, we understand that it is a set of interwoven elements of structure that builds a frame for supporting an entire structure. When we hear the word infrastructure, we imagine buildings, bridges and sometimes imagine the photographs of designs of some important buildings known to us. But in reality, this word has many meanings that give a direction to different fields of infrastructure.
But, in reality, what does infrastructure industry consist of? It consists of the elements, those when meshed up together produce engineering wonders. These elements of infrastructure industry are:-
Structures in physical form: These structures in physical form are the pillars of development in the infrastructure industry. These structures in physical form can be like water reserves, the power plants, the communication network establishments, buildings, etc.- Basic services: The basic services are the services that are necessary for the development of the infrastructure to take place. These basic services are like provision of electricity, supply of water, building of roads and bridges, necessity of health services and above all education.
- Public Facilities: These are the facilities and / or services that are needed to make a residential development as self supportive. This includes building of roads connecting the major networks of roads in the city, development of bridges, establishing schools and water purifying system, etc.
- Permanent Resources: The permanent resources are the resources that are helping in serving the necessary needs of a society. These permanent resources are like hospitals, sewer system, railway system of stations and rails, communications, etc.
- Transport Planning: This is one of the main elements of Infrastructure industry. Transport planning consists of the basic fundamental facilities that the people living in there would enjoy. It makes things look more organized and logical. These transport planning parameters include roads, the lanes and by-lanes, signals of traffic and sidewalks.
- Architectural Elements: In the corporate world, the architectural elements are important as they help in making up the data warehouse. This warehouse environment consists of the elements of organizational support, the existing standards of infrastructure corporate, the methodologies being followed by the various companies as a whole and the physical hardware linking the things together.
These elements in totality are called as infrastructure and have resulted in many applications making the use of the generalizations and rules of infrastructure and allowing the industry to grow and prosper.
