A writers’ resume is supposed to be the best and should have the weight that the people are looking into and the publishers get impressed. The print media and the publishers get to know the writer by the resume he or she presents and this resume should be a class apart than others resume. Name Sequence: This portion of the resume should contain the writers’ name, address and phone numbers. The email address and a website is an additional advantage to let the potential employers know more about the writer.
Objectives: This is a portion in resume that stands out as an editorial expression of the writer telling the employers about your potential contribution to the position that you are applying for. This portion is short and depicting your objective in just one sentence.
Writing and Editorial Background: This is the portion that has the main meat of what the writer has done till now during his entire working as a writer. This includes the writers’ working as a writer or an editor with the number of years and the place of working as such. If the writer has done national publications or has written one or some books, those are accredited here. For example, it can be written as: “Worked as a professional writer for six years, with an experience in business writing, newspaper and magazines. I have authored eight hundred articles in ten national publications; Apart from this, I have co-authored two books and am an author of one book of my own. I have won the year 2000 "best article" award given to me by the Good Authors’ Association.”
Employment History: This is a section that includes your brief description of the primary writing activities the writer has been doing including the names of the major clients with whom or for whom worked. It also includes your publication services as provided. One should keep in mind not to recap the skills as listed in above section. If one has worked for some company or companies, then this section includes you work, responsibilities and major achievements.
Education: This is the common section shared by all the resumes of the world. This includes all your qualifications starting from the latest and the major required for the position you are applying for. One should write the qualifications required for the appointment one is applying for.
Awards and Memberships: In case of any awards and achievements in writing or speaking is supposed to be mentioned in this section and thus, one is able to comprehend from the awards he or she has got.
Member, Authors’ Guild: Now, this is a section which helps the potential employers to know about the association the writer has with the writer organizations of the world.
Last but not the least; one should also include the personal details like marital status, father’s name and date of birth, etc at the end of the resume.
